Paul Goble Collection - Read Full Bio Paul Goble, an author and an illustrator originally from England, utilizes American Indian Tradition in his children’s books. Shortly after moving to South Dakota in 1977, Goble’s book, The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses, received the Caldecott Medal as the year’s best-illustrated book for children. He has given a selection of his original illustrations from more than 30 of his children’s books to the Museum. The South Dakota Art Museum holds this permanent collection of Paul Goble’s paintings depicting Native American legends and traditions, and his works will be displayed on a rotating basis at the Museum.
