Lonie Teachout has been creating Raku pottery since the late 1980’s and currently resides as a professional potter in Piedmont, SD. She teaches workshops and sells and exhibits her award winning works nationwide. She has recently returned to creating a new line of functional stoneware which is offered at the SD Art Museum Store.
Jeannie French works out of Brookings, SD creating wonderfully structured pottery. Her original combinations of patterns, colors and shapes make this pottery a great product. The Museum Store has a great selection of Jeannie’s pieces.
Gerry Punt currently lives in Sioux Falls where he has been an Assistant Professor of Art at Augustana College since 1983. In the past Gerry has been a ceramics instructor at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and has instructed many workshops and exhibitions. The Museum store offers a wide selection of Gerry’s unique pottery, including cups and wonderfully sculpted bowls.
Dakota Stoneware Pottery is run by Dave and Julie Huebner from Bushnell, SD. All of the pottery is produced by hand on a potter's wheel. The clay and glazes are carefully selected from various natural earth elements. The war is lead free and safe for use in contemporary kitchens. The shape and form of the pottery is deeply rooted in early American tradition, with a few contemporary flares. The ware is decorated with images of the prairie.
